Lectors: The ministry of the lector is to proclaim the sacred scriptures in such a way that we are reminded that the Word of god is alive and active in our lives and in this world.
Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion: Extraordinary Ministers are called to offer the Body and Blood of our Savior Jesus Christ to all parishioners at our Masses; or bring the Blessed Sacrament to homebound parishioners.
Art and Environment: The men and women of this ministry endeavor to beautify our gathering and worship spaces in order to enhance the experiences within our church building; from a warm welcoming as we enter and throughout all our liturgical celebrations.
Catechists: The men and women who volunteer their time to share their faith and teach our children the tenets of our religion are ensuring the future of our parish community.
Music Ministry: Our Music Ministry at St. Mary’s is a diverse one, offering a variety of ensembles and styles of music to lift the congregation’s voices and minds to God. Music reading and music experience is not required for any of the groups but is helpful. No audition is required. If you have any questions, please email music director, Joseph Scolastico at email@example.com or see him following the Masses.
Our adult choir sings a wide variety of sacred and liturgical music and leads the congregation in singing at most of the Sunday 9:00 AM Masses year round as well as other special events such as Holy Week and Lessons and Carols. We rehearse weekly from September until late spring Thursday nights at 7:00 PM and at 8:15 AM on Sunday. We are always looking for new members, especially men. There may also be opportunities for instrumentalists to accompany the choir as well.
Our Bell Choir accompanies the choir and congregation and plays solo pieces usually once a month at the 9:00 Mass and at other special events. Mondays at 7:30 PM in the church.
Our Children’s Choir sings at special liturgies such as Christmas Eve and Palm Sunday and at other special events such as Lessons and Carols. Our goal is to have them sing more frequently.. We rehearse immediately following the 9:00 AM Mass. Grade school to middle school children are most welcome to join our children’s choir.
In addition, parishioners share their time and talent on the Finance Council, the Parish Pastoral Council, as ushers, money counters, laundering the altar linens and we even have children who give their time as altar servers.
