In 1833, Frederic Ozanam was challenged as a lay Catholic to understand what he and his friends were doing to help their Church. They answered this question by starting the The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, an organization that gives Vincentians a way to live out the gospel message. The Vincentian way of life stresses three principals:
- Members seek holiness through prayer together with acts of kindness.
- Members proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ in word and action.
- Members serve the poor directly person to person and have a deep concern for them.
Our parishes St. Vincent de Paul Society conference is comprised of 25 volunteers who strive to help people both monetarily and spiritually. At each monthly meeting we pray for the intentions of our members and other parishioners; discuss and act upon new cases; and conduct the business of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. We work closely with Wellspring, our town’s multi-service agency.
